Scopus is a multidisciplinary bibliographic database containing millions of records from valuable journals published by many publishers. In addition, periodicals available in open access are indexed, as well as conference materials, trade publications, patents and publishing series. Until the mid-90s, only bibliographic descriptions of articles are available, data for papers published since 1996 also have abstracts added.
Database allows to:
- create subject lists,
- track citations and check the h-index (Hirsch index),
- identify authors and obtain further information about them,
- learn about the latest scientific publications on the chosen topic,
- receive notifications of new records that meet the users' criteria, including new citations of articles.
The database contains the SciVal add-in that allows to visualize the achievements of scientific institutions, to compare with other units, to evaluate potential collaborators and partners, and to analyze trends in the world of science.
Since 2012, the access to Scopus resources is granted by nationwide license funded entirely by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and managed by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM).
