Data Journals

Data Journals are reviewed scholarly journals that publish articles (usually referred to as data descriptors) describing the data itself and the manner of collecting it.

It allows the readers to understand when, how and why data was collected. Data journals try to raise the awareness of existing data, that can be re-used in future projects. Articles published in data journals may contain some attachments about described datasets and information on where to find them (mostly research data repositories). Journals which focus on research data may be interdisciplinary or may publish data descriptors from one particular field.
