Publishing an article. Finding a suitable journal.

If you want to publish a scientific article, it is recommended to check a journal publishing policy and find a journal which meets your and the founder’s (if applicable) requirements.

1

First of all, it is worth deciding about the target audience and then checking which journal can provide that your article will reach them.

2

Secondly, you have to check if a selected journal meets the publication or scoring requirements requested by the founder (here you can check the requirements according to the NCN policy).

3

Thirdly, it is good to verify if a particular journal offers to publish an article at no cost in an open access. The Krakow University of Economics is a beneficiary of the national license and additionally pays for the possibility of publishing in open access in specific journals (more information in the tab Open Access Publication at KUE).

While searching for the best journal it is recommended to note the following details:

  • the thematic scope of the journal and if it matches the content of your article as closely as possible and allows you to reach the widest possible target audience;
  • if the journal and its reviewers represent an international scientific community;
  • whether the selected journal publishes recognized scholars;
  • how high the selected journal is rated on the MEiN list or indexed in, e.g. Scopus or Web of Science databases;
  • the length of the editorial process and the average publication time from text submission;
  • the length of the editorial process and the average publication time from text submission;
  • whether the journal provides a digital object identifier, e.g. a DOI number (an international and permanent identifier that provides a permanent link that can be cited and tracked).
